Macanudo's "1968" is a very special number, combining a Connecticut Habano binder, a Honduran San Agustin wrapper, and a filler blend which contains both Dominican and Nicaraguan leaf - the latter specially grown in the rich volcanic soil of Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua. And even before all that is put together, the tobaccos are bound up in tercios and aged within charred wooden barrels. The result is a medium-full bodied smoke rich with flavor, and possessing consistent burn qualities.
