This is the sort of Balkan I really like. The substantial smoky Latakia works beautifully in harmony with the pungent Oriental tobaccos, and the smooth Virginia sets the stage for this interaction. “Old School” because there is a welcome absence of Cavendish and any topping to distract from the high quality tobaccos interweaving their characteristic sour, smoky taste. Very enjoyable in a large bowl to let the components really open up and sing. Medium to full in taste, and not much of an N hit, which is typical of a good Balkan mixture. No excess moisture, and smoked right down to a fine white ash.
A great blend with plenty of character!
