Having close to one hundred pipes, the Peterson Fermoy 106, surpassed my expectations. The size is perfect (I am six feet tall) and the bowl fits my hand naturally and perfectly. The stem, extremely comfortable in my mouth. The male tenon, funnelled. The outside of the male tenon, I rubbed with a #2 pencil for graphite lubrication. The fit of the tenon to the shank, smooth. The interior of the bowl pre-carboned, but I am breaking it in by thirds, regardless, to assure a break-in that is perfect. The bowl bore is large enough to fit my index finger and even part of my thumb, so I am pleased with the dimensions. Polishing is excellent. Nickel band, nice. A lacquer finish applied that will seal the briar and in time when it wears, oil finish will replace the high gloss finish. Draw is exceptional. Light with a match and burley blend, and presto, satisfaction complete. I never thought it possible that I would ever have a "perfect", or "favorite" pipe. I just found it.
