My first tin of Solani 131 was 5 years ago and it's been in my rotation since then. It's billed as flavoured with a single malt scotch , and the cynic in me decided that statement was probably apocryphal, yet in the tin note and in the smoking, the Scotch flavour comes through strongly enough to discern it's a fine Scotch they use and could well be single malt. I shouldn't be a doubting Thomas re Solani, theyve never lied to me in the past or done anything to me except provide quality pipe tobacco but the cynic in me pops out of nowhere regularly and takes the helm of this big old ship that can't be steered. The Scotch isn't overpowering though and it smoothes the edges of the blend of tobaccos nicely and at times it fades out altogether, as if it jumped ship , and you're left with the delicious flavour of just the Virginias, Burleys and Cavendish, and that can be a good thing. Despite being steeped in Scotch this tobacco doesn't run delinquent or misbehave, burning cool and dry and consistently. It grew on me as well and after smoking a few tins of something else i always eventually yearn for that tobacco with the single malt lean. I have to give it 5 stars.
